Outside of work I am interested in most things media related which is why there is a big section of this website about my radio work, but more on that later. At school I was involved with the school newspaper, from reporter to eventually sole editor. The team took part in a TES Newspaper in a Day competition and we were awarded a Distinction, collecting the award at the House of Commons.

I read Psychology at The University of Birmingham and have a Bsc (Hons) degree. I
find it an interesting subject because of its diversity. Some modules include social
aspects of people in society; prejudice for example while neuropsychology is all
about the brain's cognitive functions. The main areas that interest me most are Child
Psychology and the media.
Year 1 of the course included some overlap from my A Level
course but did involved more depth. Year 1 had no weighting according to the final
degree -
Year 2 modules were compulsory for everyone:
Biological Bases -

Year 3 involved some choice of modules within set guidelines (so that everyone covered the same areas, even if different topics). My choices:
Biological -
Forensic Psychology
Cognition -
Media Psychology (involved persuasion and propaganda)
Plus my choice of final dissertation, which was on media violence, fully titled:
"Does viewing fantasy violence have an impact on people’s attitudes to violence?"

CMP was an excellent opportunity to get heard and have fun at the same time. It was, and remains (even while off air) exclusively the only station to let anyone on the air. On CMP I diversified from music presenting to news reading (I thank the school newspaper for helping there!) and also station management, as Head of News. At TCR fm I am now the Joint Project Director and there is never a dull moment even, and especially, when we are not on air! Last but not least Reach began with a similar broadcast for a month in 2006 and Reach OnAir has now developed into a unique Internet radio station.

After my G.C.S.E's in 2000, I stayed on to take 4 'AS' Levels (English Literature,

While at university though I became a presenter on Internet radio exclusive CMP Radio and then KIR. CMP was the first proper exposure and practice of live radio. I now help to run a local radio station, TCR fm (early 2004). TCR trains young people and then we let them loose on the FM airwaves! I have gained a lot of on air experience (presenting and newsreading) and management experience (don't mention news rotas!)
